Filming a night at Gotham Luxembourg

Open since 2016 on Avenue de la Faïencerie, Gotham is Luxembourg City's most upscale club. Filming there means a dark room, a dance floor ringed with VIP tables, and a crowd that does not want a camera in its face. It is a precise exercise.

NightLife Events

Gotham only opens on Friday and Saturday, from 11pm to 6am. Everything is therefore shot at night, and the room's peak does not last the whole evening: it is between one and three in the morning that the floor is full and the footage is worth something. A crew arriving at midnight and leaving at two misses half of what it came for.

We shoot lean and high-sensitivity, without adding light to a room that already has its own. The club runs a VOID system built in gold exclusively for it — that installation is part of the venue's visual identity, it gets filmed, not hidden behind an LED panel. The typical output is a short aftermovie plus a set of vertical formats, delivered early enough in the week to feed the following weekend's promotion.

Filming at Gotham Luxembourg: what changes

Three constraints shape a shoot at Gotham, and none of them is strictly technical.

The first is discretion. The club trades on regulars and rents its tables for birthdays, stag nights and corporate evenings. Filming a VIP booth without explicit consent is the fastest way to be shown the door, and worse, to burn the relationship with the venue. Framing is agreed with the staff before opening, not during.

The second is the dress code, 'smart and elegant'. It applies to the crew too: you cover a night in evening wear, not in shooting gear. A detail that stops being one when you have to blend into the room for six hours.

The third is sound. A club booking international DJs is filmed with a direct feed from the booth, never with the on-camera microphone: at that sound pressure, an onboard mic returns nothing but clipping.

Access and logistics

The club sits at 14 Avenue de la Faïencerie in Limpertsberg, minutes from Luxembourg City centre. We are based fifteen minutes from the border: a shoot ending at 6am is not billed as long-distance travel.

Frequently asked questions

Do you film at Gotham Luxembourg?

Yes. We shoot in clubs with a lean, high-sensitivity setup and no added lighting. Coverage follows the venue's real hours, open Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 6am.

What time should you film to get a full room?

Between one and three in the morning. Before that the floor is still filling; after, it empties gradually. A crew leaving at two misses the best of the night.

How do you handle privacy in the VIP booths?

The filmable perimeter is agreed with the staff before opening. No table is filmed without consent, and we remove in the edit any shot where an identifiable person later objects.

What do you deliver after a club night?

The usual package is a short aftermovie plus several vertical cuts for social. The turnaround is set against the following weekend's promotion and written into the quote.

Do you take sound straight from the booth?

Yes, whenever possible. A camera mic clips in a club; a direct feed from the booth gives audio that is actually usable in the edit.
